(C.E.R.T.) Disaster Kit Checklist Being prepared before a disaster happens can help ensure survival for you and
your family. Plan to store enough supplies for everyone in your household for
at least three days. - Water. Have at least a gallon per person per day.
- Food. Pack non-perishable, high protein items like energy bars, ready-to-eat
soup, peanut butter, etc. Include foods that don't need refrigeration and can
ge prepared in little or no water.
- First aid kit. Pack a reference guide.
- Flashlights. Include extra batteries.
- Battery-operated radio. Include extra batteries.
- Tools. Gather a wrench to turn off gas if necessary, manual can opener,
screwdriver, hammer, pliers, knife, duct tape, and trash bags with ties.
- Medications. Prescription and non-prescription.
- Clothing. Provide a change of clothes for everyone, Including sturdy shoes and
gloves.
- Contact Information. Carry a current list of family phone numbers and e-mail
Adresses, including someone out of the area who may be easier to reach if local
phone lines are out of service or overloaded. Also include family photos.
- Map. Plot an evacuation route from your local area and identify a meeting place
for your family.
Remember to check and refresh your supply kit at least twice a year.
